Hello, I have written a very basic VST host that will play a MIDI file to a WAV. It currently renders one or all tracks with one instrument. I would like to be able to render multiple instruments but I'm not sure what the next step is. Two ideas occur to me: - I could setup my instruments as a chain, passing silence into the first instrument, the result of instrument 1 into instrument 2 (processReplacing)., to instrument N - I could separately process each instrument and somehow mux the streams. Both require a fair amount of work so I am hoping for a pointer or two before I dive in.
Changes can be applied either to only the selected notes or the entire MIDI part being edited. MIDI parts can be edited using a piano roll, a dedicated drum editor, a score editor, or as a filterable complete list of MIDI events. It required use of an Atari SM-124 monochrome monitor, which gave a then impressive resolution of 640x400, at a rock-solid 71.25 Hz. The main innovation of Cubase was the graphic arrange page, which allowed for the graphic representation of the composition using a vertical list of tracks and a horizontal timeline. Finally released in 1981, the Emulator was a floppy disk-based keyboard workstation which enabled the musician to sample sounds, recording them to non-volatile media and allowing the samples to be played back as musical notes on the keyboard. The 51⁄4″ floppy disk drive enabled the owner to build a library of samples and share them with others, or buy pre-recorded libraries on disk. The Emulator had a very basic 8-bit sampler –; it only had a simple filter, and only allowed for a single loop. The initial model did not even include a VCA envelope generator. It came in three forms: A two-voice model (only one of these was ever sold), a four-voice model, and an eight-voice model.
