How To Operate Neat Scanner
But how long am I gonna wait? I am so frustrated. I have a brand new business. I have tax paper and I can’t scan anything. I have so much paper all over my house. I'm so pissed off.
For example, I added Preview, allowing me to immediately view the results of a scan. A minor downside of the ScanSnap software is that you cannot revert back to Quick Menu after making a selection. For example, after sending a scan to Preview, I might want to return to Quick Menu to choose Scan to Word. There is no way to do this.
We have since then retired the Legacy software and retired scanners as well. We have grown into a company that utilizes a cloud based software for the convenience of our customers. When using the cloud based software, if your Computer crashes, you will have full access to all of your data from any browser at any time.
In the past few months I’ve been flooded with emails from people looking to migrate away from Neat Desktop for their receipts and document scanning and organization. When you get one or two emails on a subject you assume it’s a coincidence. When it becomes dozens of messages, it’s time to see what is going on.
Then there is the problem of pulling out many years of data. Some of it can be trashed but I have a lot of tax records in Neat. There must be a solution out there.
It is very simple and I can take a picture of the receipt wherever I am at and it is uploaded to the cloud. And whenever I get a chance to sit down to the computer, it is there. I can make sure it is categorized correctly in the system.
Please Note: The default scan destination is set to Save To Neat. • You can click the Change button to select where you want to save your item within your computer’s hard drive. Enter the name of the file in the text box where it says Enter file name This is the name your file will be saved as. • You can click the PDF dropdown if you want to save the scan in another format.
The Neat Cloud service will also sync with your mobile device. ScanSnap also send scans to computer desktop applications, as well as cloud storage programs including Dropbox, Evernote, GoogleDocs, Salesforce, CRM, Chatter, SugarSync, and SharePoint. Like the NeatConnect, ScanSnap will synch to mobile devices. Features Both are Mac- and PC-compatible, and both have received high marks from reviewers for ease of use right out of the box. Both are also wireless, which means you can scan without your computer. ScanSnap has a few notable and time-saving features, including recognition of paper orientation, which means it turns documents the correct way. It removes blank pages, straightens crooked images, and crops documents.
How To Operate The Neat Scanner
You sold a product and it's not right you don't have support software for it! John, We currently do offer limited support for our most recently retired products. When taking a look at your case history with our team, we see that you are requesting the link to download our Legacy software.

It is plugged into the - Answered by a verified Tech Support Specialist. We use cookies to give you the best possible experience on our website. I would like to know why my neat scanner model nm1000 fails to work.
AND I don’t trust Neat because they can’t even provide bug free software that works, and their technical support is awful. All they say is “I apologize for that”. Or the tell me they will give it to their programmers. I’m through with them and if I didn’t have a fairly new Neat scanner I would switch to ScanSanp and use their software instead but it’s just too expensive to chuck my scanner and start again.
Very frustrating to have 7 years of receipts and have to change now I’m going to try and re install one the computer I spent hours scanning on today in the morning and see if that works as it DOES seem to work that way though not consistently and it hasn’t synched to the Cloud in a week with error messages and ‘try later’. I have been using Neatworks for probably 7 or 8 years.I have never been that happy with itbut my needs are fairly simple and I was used to it. Every year I vowed to quit. Now it seems I have to quit.
And it integrates well with Spotlight search. It does employ a SQLLite database for storing some metadata. But the files remain intact and independent on the filesystem. It took me a few weeks of experimenting before I was convinced that EagleFiler was a better solution for me than Evernote. I gave them both high marks. Along about that time Evernote announced a change in their free plan, where multi-device support would no longer be offered for the free accounts.
Now I find myself avoiding it and letting documents pile up. It is not enjoyable, it is not efficient, and it crashes a lot. So, is Fujitsu’s Scan Snap a good replacement for Neat? I would like to be able to export transactions to Quicken but that is not essential. Then there is the problem of pulling out many years of data.
I have switched to iDrive and while I am happy with the product I really miss some features that Crash Plan included. In your list, you may have forgotten, “Doesn’t total categories anymore.” That’s my big complaint nowadays. I’d like a total of the dollar amount of the category’s receipts, or a total of a group of receipts in one category, and now there’s no way to make that happen, or even copy a category and paste it into a Numbers spreadsheet. Apparently Neat wrote sums out of the program. The funny thing is when I use it, it has different glitches, errors, and idiosyncracies than you get. Re your #5, I am able to combine receipts.
It's so neat and nice. Original review: Nov. 9, 2018 My company bought one of the machines and the software was obsolete. We contacted the company. Never got the machine to work so just dropped it.
They scan at up to 600 dpi resolution, duplex and in color, with speeds of up to 25 pages per minute. Both automatically adjust to different sized papers in a single stack. However, in my testing, the iX500 consistently out-performed the NeatDesk. The iX500 often scanned at a spectacular 30 ppm, while NeatDesk handled the same paper stacks at only 11 ppm. NeatDesk also had more frequent problems with paper jamming or twisting in the feeder.
I have had several documents just disappear that I had to re-scan. If I look at the folder I can tell a document is processing. That is because Neat defaults to “All Items” every time I click on a folder. The categories and accounts fields have many defaults I will never use and that I cannot remove or edit.
• • Using the Report Window Toolbar • Running a Report • Saving a Report Using the Report Window Toolbar The report window provides a toolbar for easy navigation, printing, and copying. Unfortunately, both Neat storage methods deprive users of control, creating a number of problems for users. First, Neat places your scans in a different location than the rest of your files, like Word documents and spreadsheets. Second, the Neat storage methods restrict you from being able to use other programs. For example, if you have a favorite image-editing program, you can't use it with Neat Desk or Neat Receipts.
The desktop scanner works with Microsoft Windows or Mac OSX. Is designed with simplicity in mind. Easy layout with only two buttons as well as being stylish makes it easy to use. It is matte black and white with rounded edges. Compact means it does not take much space on the desktop.
Although I should use it weekly, I wait until all my paperwork builds up, about two months at a time, before I use it. The NeatDesk is a lot quicker and easier to use. It's also a lot easier to manage what you have on your documents and what you store on your documents, and keeps them running total of everything. If you've gotta look for something, it's right there. That makes it a lot simpler. I have a lot of stuff on my Neat stuff.
I did find a great tool that’s Open Source called DocFetcher. I use it on my work PC and home. It looks as though you are an Intuit Quicken user as I have been since the early 1990s.
It’s ridiculous what they have done with this once great product. I am actively looking for a replacement.
Neat could do this fairly accurately. Give up on Neat ASAP. Boy, what a crappy business move. I haven’t read through all comments here (yet) but am really glad to see this group/forum/info. I’m very much looking forward to reading more about what to do with everything I’ve already scanned.
I am still using NR Desktop for Win [most recent version; ha!] to try to prepare my LLC taxes for this year. Frightened about the ongoing DB crashes, I’m backing up the NR database LOCALLY ONLY every 15 minutes because of data integrity issues regarding the entries, graphics and database record pointers to mismatched receipts and DB records. Because ALL of my work life for tax purposes is in Neat for 2017 [and going back some years], I will reluctantly continue to work with it until filing this year’s taxes. However I’m holding ALL of my 2018 receipts for potential use in another product.
↓ • gwen mosley hello Mimi, I really need a tutorial on Neat. I have never used one.
The program also crashed several times. Speaking of which, I went through an update, which took several minutes. After the crash Neat advised that an update was ready and asked if I wanted to install it. They still have not fixed this bug. Neat’s programmers have no concept of paying attention to detail or to understanding how people might interact with their software. Neat used to be enjoyable to use.
• The installation of PaperPort does not install any scanner drivers. In some cases, when PaperPort is supplied by a Nuance Partner, the CD/DVD may include a separate installer for the scanner driver. • It is important to remember that all scanners are different. Some scanners will not have all page sizes available to choose from. Other scanners may require that the scanner's native user interface is used to scan properly. • The PaperPort Scan Manager includes the option to override the scanner's native interface. Here are some important notes: • • When scanning without the native interface, the scanning profiles within PaperPort will control the scanner settings.
I’ve had many of those problems with 5.7. I’ve reinstalled several times, and can still (so far) export single and multiple page files. There is software that will let you combine multiple PDF files into one file. One such program is integral with Windows 10. I backup to an external usb drive. So when Neat failed to launch because it couldn’t locate the database, I was able to copy it from the external drive back to it’s correct location, without having to worry about it being corrupted.
I can spend money to save data but my previous data can’t be retrieved from the device I currently still own. This sounds like a way to make more money from people. You purchase the product and are forced to pay to use the cloud. I was able to save some info onto a flash drive but with technology today, I would think the data is still on my system but they just don’t want to retrieve it or maybe want you to pay a large amount to do it, not sure about this but very disappointed. Now I can’t even use the Neat system I currently own because it’s not updated, not the best way to treat your customers who actually enjoy and use your product.
(Ask me how I know this). I don’t often have a need for remote file access.
I am a VERY organized and busy individual. The LAST thing I need is to spend more of my time farting around with this system.
Neat Scan To Computer
Now they are pushing everyone to the cloud. I asked one of my readers why they are switching, and here was the response: Neat stopped their Legacy desktop support early this year. They are focusing and concentrating on their cloud-based application which gets very mixed reviews. In my opinion it’s not great.
